According to the Technician Council, in a campaign launched today, Britain will need 450,000 technicians by 2020, yet it is a category of post that is often ignored. This is despite the fact that the work can be interesting and well paid.
Although my background means that I have more often come across Accounting Technicians, the category of technician covered by the Council is largely in science and engineering, covering industries as diverse as telecomms, media and food. The increasing importance of “green” industries also creates demand.
For some, this is the right course – and no student debt!
